My Personal Self-Breast Examination: Early diagnosis is the key to surviving breast cancer. Regular breast screenings are the best way to detect breast cancer early. All women should perform monthly breast cancer self-examinations.
To examine your right breast, place a pillow underneath your right shoulder and place your right hand behind your head, this distributes breast more evenly on the chest area. Take your left hand, fingers flat and press gently in small circular motions clockwise. Begin at the top of your right breast for twelve o'clock then move to one o'clock, and around the circle back to twelve o'clock. Please note, a ridge of firm tissue in the lower curve of each breast is normal. Thereafter, move in an inch toward the nipple, keep circling to examine every part of your breast including the nipple. This requires at least three more circles. Repeat the same procedure on your left breast with a pillow underneath your left shoulder and left hand behind your head. Hope this was helpful to you!
